Father Rupnik’s Victims Say Diocese of Rome’s Statement ‘Ridicules’ Their Pain

COMMENTARY: The Jesuits had an option to pursue justice for Father Rupnik’s victims and to punish him for his crimes. They chose not to do so.
In his letter, Father Verschuren also noted that the Jesuits would disaffiliate from the Centro Aletti, an artistic community founded by Father Rupnik in the 1990s and has since been linked canonically with the order.
Various media reported that the Slovenian priest would move to live in Croatia in the Diocese of Split-Makarska.
According to media reports in recent months, Father Rupnik defied several orders and others, such as the direction to remain in central Italy and to not participate in public artistic activities.
According to an investigation published by Italian media, Father Rupnik owns 90% of the company Rossoroblu, a limited liability company founded in 2007 with capital of 10,000 euros.
The Jesuit order has received accusations against Father Rupnik that span from 1985 to 2018 and include claims of spiritual, psychological, and sexual abuse, and abuse of conscience.
